“감사 합니다 kamsahamnida”

Get to know "THANK YOU" in Korean




1. 고마워 gomaweo

  • “고마워 gomaweo” is a low form of "Thank you" .

  • “고마워 gomaweo” is used between friends or people who are younger than you. Or you can say “땡큐 ttaeng khyu” among friends.




2. 감사-감사 kamsa-kamsa

  • Senior High School girls sometimes say “감사-감사 kamsa-kamsa”. This is very popular on the internet, chatting, or texting. This is only used between friends.


3. 고마워요 gomaweoyo

  • “고마워요 gomaweoyo” is used between friends or younger than you.

  • “고마워요 gomaweoyo” looks like a form of honor but is close to a low shape.

  • If you use “고마워요 gomaweoyo” for senior people or those who are older than you, then they will feel bad (inappropriate).


4. 감사 해요 kamsahaeyo

  • Hardly used / rarely used.


5. 고맙습니다 gomapseumnida and 감사 합니다 kamsahamnida

  • “고맙습니다 gomapseumnida” and “감사 합니다 kamsahamnida” adalah bentuk kehormatan “Terima kasih”. “고맙습니다 gomapseumnida” is pure Korean, and “감사 합니다 kamsahamnida” is from the Chinese word.

  • “고맙습니다 gomapseumnida” dan “감사 합니다 kamsahamnida” are the same level of honor. But many people assume that “감사 합니다 kamsahamnida”is more honorable than “고맙습니다gomapseumnida”.



6. “고맙습니다 gomapseumnida”

  • used for those older than you, for example between: customers and officers.


7. “감사 합니다 kamsahamnida”

  • used to be older than you, for example between: grandchildren with grandparents, or between: students with teachers.
