Nature at Langkawi Island

The beauty of the environment in Langkawi attracted tourists to come to Malaysia. Tourist arrivals to Langkawi continues to increase every year. Uniqueness, beauty and natural greenery are a major tourist attraction outside the country. These developments are very encouraging and give encouragement to continue to develop Langkawi as a tourist destination worldwide. With the latest developments in tourist arrivals from China, Langkawi will certainly be flooded with international tourists.

In June 2007, Langkawi Geopark status by UNESCO as World Heritage geological landscape including stunning caves, stacks, sea arches, limestone and fossils millions of years old. Langkawi, entitled "The Jewel of Kedah" in July 2008 by Sultan Abdul Halim to provide additional thrusts to the island's tourism potential. The capital of Langkawi is the Kuah Town, located on the southern part of the main island. Langkawi is a duty free island and a district of Kedah in Malaysia.

Langkawi is not the only island. It is a group of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea in Malaysia and off the west coast of Malaysia's mainland. Actually, there are five small islands that are still submerged and can sometimes be seen at low tide. And most of the islands comprising Langkawi are small and uninhabited. The main island is known as Pulau Langkawi is the largest and the whole group was named after this Langkawi. Most of the population live on the main island and visitors arriving here.Residents of the main island of Langkawi is about 75,000 and a population of nearly 110,000. The majority (about 70%) is Malay. There is also a small percentage of the population of China, India and Thailand on the island. Although the residents of Langkawi are small, about 3 million tourists visit the island every year.

Langkawi geopark is famous as a world-class exhibit interesting geological structure along the mangrove ecosystem with diverse flora and fauna that entertain and give a new experience to tourists. Another uniqueness of Langkawi is clean beaches and islands provide an opportunity for tourists to enjoy the sea and its shores.

KILIM GEOPARK LANGKAWI

Telaga Tujuh Waterfall is a natural attraction of the most beautiful island. Located in the southwestern part of Langkawi, its name means Seven Wells Falls, referring to a series of seven natural pools connected by seven separate waterfalls at Mt. Mat Cincang. The total vertical fall is 91 meters and the lowest pool is formed at the bottom. Seven Wells Waterfall is located in Pantai Kok area and close to the Pantai Kok Beach and Oriental Village where the Cable Car ride takes place. Locals say that the Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls are home to fairies, but really it is probably the gorgeous flora in the area that makes the place seem magical. Plant life here includes unique lime plants and Sintuk, a climbing type of foliage, which grow abundantly. Adventure enthusiasts can brave the steep climb to the top of the waterfalls, past huge rocks and through the seven pools: a journey that will take you approximately 45 minutes, along the way you are likely to spot macaques, hornbills and a positively giant squirrel or two along the way.

Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls, Langkawi

The island, located about 20 kilometers from Kuah town, has a population of simple on one side and almost uninhabited where its located. Legend of Tasik Dayang Bunting like this: Pool favorite daughter named haunter space Sari said as Tasik Dayang Bunting (Lake of Pregnant Women). A son, Mat Teja, fell in love with her and deceived her to marry her. Unfortunately, their son died of a mysterious illness at the age of seven days. Disturbing, miserable Mambang Sari leaves the corpse of the child inside the lake and returns to his home in heaven. Today, some believe that a barren woman who bathe in this lake will be blessed with a child.

This lake was gazetted as a forest reserve. So no development will be done. Forests that are here from the coastal hills of the forest. Many hundreds of years of tree species remain. Visitors can look at various species of animals living here. On the way to this lake, visitors will climb the hill where there are interesting boulders that can be seen along the pedestrian path. These stones are very unique and result from natural phenomena for thousands of years.

Pulau Beras Basah is a place of interest in Langkawi. The blueness of seawater and the peacefulness of Beras Basah Island in Langkawi is indeed a tourist attraction. It is located on the western tip of Langkawi, Pulau Beras Basah offers a relaxing getaway with pristine beaches, clear blue waters and pristine forests. In addition to the clean white sand and a backdrop of lush green forests, the waters around Pulau Beras Basah also provide views and experience.

Pantai Cenang is located 18.4 kilometers from the town of Kuah and is the most visited location as all facilities such as restaurants, hotels and budget chalets, entertainment centers and souvenir shops are easily found along this location. The beach is fine sand like crystals twinkle when sunlit and surrounded by palm trees. Pantai Cenang is also famous for the beauty of the sunset and in the evening is filled with a variety of activities, so long as the light is lit up as long as the beach lives with a variety of visitor behavior.
