2nd and 3rd Generations of Idols

In the mid 2000s to early 2010s, Second Generation and Third Generation groups such as the Wonder Girls, Girl's Generation, 2NE1, and Kara revived the popularity and consumption of girls domestically in Korea as well as globally through the second phase of Hallyu. As many of the aforementioned groups have disbanded, less senior groups such as Twice, Red Velvet, GFriend, Mamamoo, and Black Pink have risen to distinction in recent years.
